913. James FORTESCUE was born in 1804. He was christened on 6 January 1804 in Thurning, Hunts.125 He died before 1881. Farmed Barnwell Lodge Farm between Thurning and Barnwell St Andrews

James FORTESCUE and Mary Ann SMITH were married on 18 April 1831 in Thurning, Hunts.126 James described as Bachelor and Mary Ann as Spinster.

Smith Mary Ann SMITH105 was born in 1814. She appeared in the census in 1881 in Barnwell St. Andrews, Northants. Housekeeper for James 1841 Thurning Census taken 8th June shows James aged 35 as a Farmer
and Mary Ann aged 25. No children shown in census.

James FORTESCUE127 was born on 14 February 1834 in Old Manor House, Barnack, Cambridge. From Family Bible He was christened on 16 March 1834. He appeared in the census in 1851 in Thurning North, Hunts. Aged 17 unmarried James appeared in the census in 1881 in Barnwell St. Andrews, Northants. Farmer of 500 Acres employing 14 men and 4 Boys He appeared in the census in 1901 in Twywel, lNorthants. Farmer He died on 1 April 1910 in Barnack, Cambridge. James appears to have farmed around Barnwell but also at Ashton and Twywell. During his career, he seems to have acquired property in Oundle, Thrapston, Bedford, Orby (Lincs) etc, all out on profitable private leases or mortgages at his death.
