494. Rebecca FORTESCUE of Spridlestone (private).

George FORTESCUE of Tavistock⁶⁸ was born in 1668. He was christened on 14 January 1668 in Buckland Filleigh, Devon. He died in 1700. George was the second surviving son of William of Buckland-Filleigh. He married Rebecca, fifth (?) daughter and eventually heiress of Edmond (Edward ?) of Spridlestone, and was father to John of Bampton, who inherited the family estates from Mary. John died unmarried in 1776, and the estates went to the son of his sister Rebecca who, through her mother, had also succeeded to Spridlestone. Her son was Richard Inglett, born in 1731.

Rebecca FORTESCUE of Spridlestone and George FORTESCUE of Tavistock had the following children:

591	i.	Elizabeth FORTESCUE47 was born about 1698 in Buckland Filleigh, Devon. She was christened on 31 July 1698 in Buckland Filleigh, Devon. She was buried on 23 January 1700/1 in Buckland Filleigh, Devon.

593	iii.	John FORTESCUE M.B. of Bampton68 was born about 1700. He was christened on 14 September 1700 in Tavistock, Devon. He died in 1776. Only Son. John inherited Buckland-Filleigh in 1752, from his cousin Mary who was the daughter of the Rt. Hon. William Fortescue, Master of the Rolls. He also inherited Spridlestone from his mother (Rebecca). He had no issue, and both properties passed to his sister Rebecca. Died 1776 unmarried
