1841 Farmed at Solom (Salome) Lodge. Aged 43.
1851, shown as farming at Salome Lodge, 500 acres. John, Hannah, Lucy, Lewis, and Jane all employed at home and unmarried.
1861, Lewis (aged 62) farmed 745 acres at Salome Lodge. Gerrard (aged 27) and Jane (aged 22) unmarried, at home. Frederick (aged 11) shown as scholar.

Lewis FORTESCUE and Ruth BATEMAN of Hamerton were married on 4 October 1819 in Hamerton, Hunts. Witnessed Thomas Bateman, Franis Mackanass, & Ruth Knight Ruth BATEMAN of Hamerton was born on 31 March 1800. 1851 Census states that she was born in Hamerton - Huntingdon Records
She died on 24 November 1853. Died at 8 pm

Jane FORTESCUE¹²³ was born on 16 July 1838. Born at 10 pm. She was baptized on 22 July 1838 in Leighton Bromswold, Hunts. Church Register She died on 25 November 1883. Died at Noon From: Census Records - Leighton, Hunts; 1841, '51 & '61 show Jane living at home at Salome Lodge and unmarried. Aged 2 in '41. In 1871 Jane was still at Salome Lodge, but it was being farmed by Joseph Jellis and her sister Hannah (aged 43).Jane married A. Jellis after 1861 (unmarried and living with father, Lewis, in Census 1861). Lived at Salome Lodge, Leighton, U.K. with husband. (Salome Lodge pronounced as Salom)
