1208. Clara FORTESCUE79 was born on 15 November 1857 in Paddington, London. She emigrated in 1882 from Australia. She died on 25 October 1925 in Kurrajong, NSW, Australia. The Death took place at her late house "Sunnyside" Freeman's Reach on Friday last of Mrs Clara Simpson, widow of the late James Simpson, at the age of 67 years. The deceased lady had been living in the Hawkesbury districrt for about 10 years, succumbed after an illness of months duration. The remains were deterred in St Mathew's Church of England cemetery on Saturday. Among the mourners were (the) deceased's two sons Messers Francis and James Simpson; Mr Percy Fortescue, an ex-Sergeant of Police, of Scone (Brother): mr and Mrs Bert Fortescue, daughter, Mr Lionel Fortescue, Mr Charles Relph (son-inlaw) and friends. Rev Jenkyn R.D., conducted the in the church and at the graveside and Mr Chandler was the undertaker. At age 25 emigrated to Australia under assisted passage in the Seekirkshire in 1882 with her sister Ada, aged 22. (N.S.W. State Library)
