In 1881 he was a Barrister. John appeared in the census in 1881 in 36 Duke Street, St James, Westminster, London. He died on 27 May 1939.

John Bevil FORTESCUE of Boconnoc and Dropmore and Dorothy Augusta HOSTE were married on 26 August 1891. Dorothy Augusta HOSTE¹⁶⁸ died on 7 March 1941.
